About Timeline Guesser
Timeline Guesser is a free, browser-based ordering game. You are dealt a card and a line of cards already in place, and you slot the new one where it belongs — by release date, draft year, Pokédex number, the year a player joined a club, whatever the deck measures. Get it wrong three times and the run is over. It is quick to learn, hard to master, and endlessly replayable.
One game, every subject
Most "put it in order" games pick a single lane and stay in it — one is about music, another only movies, another just historical events. Timeline Guesser was built the opposite way. The same simple mechanic runs across a whole library: films, TV episodes, albums and songs, video games and consoles, board games, world history and landmarks, mountains by elevation, the Pokédex, and a deck for every current NFL, NHL, MLB and NBA team, ordered by the year each player joined. Whatever you happen to know a lot about, there is a deck for it — and plenty to pull you into subjects you don't.
Why it's better than the single-topic clones
- Breadth, not one gimmick. Dozens of decks and thousands of cards across many subjects, so the game stays fresh long after a one-topic game has shown you everything it has.
- Mix decks into one timeline. Any decks measured on the same scale can be shuffled together — order films against albums against world events on a single line. No single-subject game can do that.
- Play solo or with friends. Jump into a quick daily run, or start a live room and race friends in real time on the same deal.
- Crews. Make a private group and filter every leaderboard down to just its members — a real competition with the people you know instead of the entire internet.
- Build your own decks. Create and share custom decks on any subject you like, so the library keeps growing beyond what we ship.
- Sourced, checked data. Card values are pulled from public reference data and audited for playability rather than guessed, so a correct answer stays correct.
- Free and instant. No download, no paywall — it runs in the browser and remembers your progress on your device, or across devices once you sign in.
