About the internet and tech timeline games

This page collects the internet's short, crowded history. Internet memes and Famous memes, pictured date memes by when they went viral, and Viral challenges and TikTok trends do the same for crazes, with TikTok placed by month. Social networks and apps, Google products, Apple products and iPhone firsts order the platforms and gadgets. Emoji go by the year each character joined Unicode, YouTube milestones and YouTube channels to 100 million subscribers track the site's growth, and Oxford Word of the Year rounds it out. Cards are placed one at a time, and a miss costs a life.

Almost everything here happened within living memory, which is exactly the problem: trends and launches pile up in the same few years, and it is easy to confuse when something appeared with when you first noticed it. Apple products is a good first choice, since product lines give a rough order. The YouTube subscriber deck is short but tight, with channels passing the mark months apart, and Emoji dates often feel off, because a symbol's popularity has little to do with when it was added.
