Game Lore & Timelines Timeline Games
Order a series by its own canon — the in-universe chronology, not the order the games came out.

Playing the video game lore timelines
These five decks ask a different question from most: not when a game came out, but where its story falls in the series' own canon. Metal Gear goes by the in-universe year each game is set, Assassin’s Creed by the historical era it visits, and Halo, Metroid and Resident Evil by their official story chronologies. They are compact, ten to fourteen cards each. As in every deck, you place one card at a time and a wrong slot costs a life.
Fans who have read the lore will have an edge, because release order is a trap here. Prequels arrive late, side stories slot between main entries, and remakes retell earlier events. Assassin’s Creed is the friendliest start if you know your history, since each setting maps to a real period. Metal Gear and Metroid are the stiffest tests, with stories that jump back and forth across the saga.
