Order by the year each player joined the Phoenix Suns. You place all 52 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
Every Sun in the deck is waiting to be dated by the year he first joined Phoenix. Cards show the name and, on most, a position. To begin, one player is set on the timeline with his year visible. You then take the cards one at a time and drop each into a gap. A right call keeps it there and reveals the year; a wrong call moves the player to where he truly goes and costs you one of three lives.
Phoenix entered the league as an expansion team, and the deck covers its whole run in the desert: the early years, the Finals teams, the fast-breaking offenses that pushed the pace and the more recent era of trading for stars. Point guards and centers dominate the printed positions. The trickiest cards belong to stars who came to the Suns late, since you probably picture them in another uniform.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
Here are 28 of the 52 cards you might be dealt, with 24 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
