How the NHL career goals game works

Snipers fill this deck of the NHL's all-time leading goal scorers, ranked by career goals. Under each name is the player's position, shown as C, L, R or D, and some cards also say active. One scorer starts on the line with his goal total showing. Place each new card in the gap where you think his total falls. Get it right and the number is revealed; get it wrong and he still lands in his true spot, costing one of three lives.

The very top of the list is famous, but below it are wingers and centers from very different eras of scoring, packed close together. Position helps only a little, since nearly every card is a forward. Active players are still adding to their totals. Players who scored heavily for a short stretch are the ones that fool people.

How players are doing

This deck has been played 13 times. An average run places 3.2 cards, and 52% of all placements land in the right spot. Nobody has placed every card yet.

The cards players get wrong most often:

  • Bobby Clarke missed 80% of the time, usually by about 3 places
