How the Broadway musicals timeline game works

Every card is a Broadway musical, and you're sorting them by the year each premiered on Broadway. The composers or songwriting team are printed under each title. One show starts on the timeline with its year showing. For each new card, choose the gap where you think it opened. A right answer reveals the year. A wrong one still moves the musical to its true place, but one of your three lives is gone.

The shows range from the golden age of the book musical to recent hits, passing through rock operas, London megamusicals and screen adaptations along the way. Several writing teams appear more than once, so their names narrow things down without settling them. Imports count from their Broadway opening, not their first run abroad. Long-running hits are the trap, since a show still playing today may have opened much earlier than you think.
