Order by the year each film came out. You place all 60 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
Every card is a famous line from the movies, printed as it was actually spoken, with the film's title underneath. You are sorting them by the year each film came out, not by when the line entered everyday speech. One quote begins on the timeline with its year showing. For each new card, pick a gap. Get it right and the year appears; get it wrong and the quote still drops into its true position, but you lose one of your three lives.
Some lines will sound slightly off, because the versions people repeat at parties often drift from what was said on screen. The span runs from early talkies to recent blockbusters, so catchphrases from every generation of moviegoers turn up. Franchises and sequels help, if you can remember which came first. Watch out for lines that feel timeless: a quote you have heard all your life may come from a film made long before you were born, and a film's title can point you the wrong way.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
Here are 28 of the 60 cards you might be dealt, with 32 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
