Order the PBS children's series by the year each first aired. You place all 38 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
The cards in this deck are PBS children's series, from neighborhood visits and puppet-filled streets to reading, science and math shows, and you order them by the year each first aired. A short description under every title reminds you who hosted it or what it set out to teach. You begin with one show placed and dated. For each new card, choose its spot on the line relative to the shows already down. When you're right, its year comes up. When you're wrong, it still goes where it belongs, and you lose one of three lives.
This deck covers a long stretch of public television, from the founding classics through the educational magazine shows to the animated series made for today's preschoolers. Many of the oldest shows are still on the air, which makes them feel timeless and hard to place. Cartoons based on picture books came along in waves, so neighboring cards can be very close together. Think about who you watched them with: a show you shared with your own kids may be far older or newer than one from your own childhood.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
Here are 28 of the 38 cards you might be dealt, with 10 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
