How The Open Championship winners timeline works

Claret Jug winners are the subject here, and you place each golfer by the year of their first Open title. A short note under each name points to their record, their style or the course where they won. One champion starts on the timeline with the year showing. For each new card, choose a gap among the golfers already placed. Right answers reveal the year; wrong ones still move the golfer to the correct spot but cost one of three lives.

This is golf's oldest major, and the deck reaches from the hickory-shafted greats to recent winners on the links rotation. The note is the most useful thing on the card, since a named course, a famous rival or a record often narrows it down. Champions who won several times appear only for their first, and golfers from the long middle stretch of the deck are the easiest to misplace.
