How to play the Disney animated classics timeline game

Every card is a feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios, with its source or premise printed beneath the title, and the goal is to sort them by US theatrical release year. One film starts on the timeline with its year in plain view. Drop each new card into the gap where you think it belongs. When you're right the year appears; when you're wrong the film moves to its true position and one of three lives goes. Ten correct in a row will refund a lost life.

This is the full studio canon, running from the first hand-drawn features through the lean years, the renaissance and the move to computer animation, up to recent sequels. Films that feel timeless are hard to date, and the quieter titles between the big hits are where most guesses go wrong. The source line helps only a little, since fairy tales and classic novels turn up in almost every era.

Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
