Order these cities by how far they are from New York. You place all 33 cards in the right order, one at a time. Three wrong guesses ends the run.
The question on every card is simple: how far is this city from New York? Each card names a major world city with its country underneath, and you rank them by straight-line distance in kilometers. One city starts on the line with its distance showing. Put each new card above or below the cities placed so far. A correct call reveals the distance; a wrong one still sends the city to its real place and costs one of your three lives.
Distances are measured over the curve of the Earth, so think globe rather than airline map. Cities on the same continent are the easy part. Once you cross an ocean the numbers climb quickly, and many cities across Europe, Africa and Asia cluster close together. The point on the opposite side of the world from New York is not where most people would first point.
This deck has been played 21 times. An average run places 5.2 cards, and 64% of all placements land in the right spot. Nobody has placed every card yet.
