How the FX shows timeline game works

Every card is an FX original series, and you put them in order by the year each premiered. No subtitle is printed, so the title is all you have. One show starts on the line with its year revealed. Each new card goes into the gap you choose, before, after or between the shows already down. Choose well and the year appears. Choose badly and the show still lands where it belongs, but you lose a life, and you only have three.

FX built its name on gritty cable dramas and went on to anthologies, spiky comedies and big-budget limited series. Several anthology brands appear here, and they can start well before the season you remember. Comedies are the hardest cards in the deck: many ran quietly for years, so their start dates are easy to misjudge.
