Order by National Pokédex number, lowest first. You place all 100 cards in the right order, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
Every card is a Pokémon that debuted in Pokémon Gold and Silver, with its type printed underneath, and you sort them by National Pokédex number. One Pokémon starts on the line with its number showing. Pick a gap for each new card: a good call reveals the number, and a bad one still drops the card into its proper place but costs one of your three lives.
Johto added baby Pokémon, the first Dark and Steel types, and legends like the tower birds. Evolution lines sit side by side in the dex, so knowing one member of a family narrows down the rest. The real test is the stretch in the middle, where the region's quirkier one-offs get shuffled together and few people could recite them cold.
Here are 28 of the 100 cards you might be dealt, with 72 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
