Order by the year each single was released. You place all 39 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
Each card is an R&B or soul single with the singer or group printed beneath, and the job is to place it by the year it came out. A single song is already on the timeline when you begin, its year visible. Pick the gap where each new card fits among the ones laid down. A correct pick shows the year; a wrong one moves the song to its rightful spot and takes away one of your three lives.
You'll go from early soul and the Motown and Stax hits through funk, disco, quiet storm, new jack swing and neo-soul to today's alternative R&B. Some singers have more than one hit here, often far apart, so the name alone won't settle it. Songs that keep coming back through covers, films and samples are the ones that feel misplaced, because you may know them from a later revival.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
This deck has been played 19 times. An average run places 6.3 cards, and 68% of all placements land in the right spot. Nobody has placed every card yet.
