How the volcano height ranking game works

Volcanoes are ranked by summit elevation in meters here, lowest first, and each card prints the country, island or region where the volcano stands. One volcano starts on the line with its height showing. Decide for each new card whether it goes above or below those already placed. Get it right and the elevation appears; get it wrong and it still moves to its true spot and takes one of your three lives.

Fame and danger don't match height: some of the deadliest and most active volcanoes are low islands or modest cones, while some of the highest summits rarely make the news. Height is measured above sea level, so huge volcanoes that rise from the ocean floor can rank lower than you'd think. The middle of the deck is packed with peaks of similar height.
