How the country population ranking game works

Each card names a country, and you arrange them by how many people live there, smallest first. Figures are the United Nations' latest estimates, rounded to three significant figures. A single country begins on the line with its population shown. For every new card, pick the gap where you think it belongs. A correct guess reveals the number; a miss still puts the country in its real place, but it costs one of your three lives.

The deck spans tiny states you could walk across in an afternoon all the way to the giants of Asia and the Americas. Land area is a tempting shortcut and often a wrong one, since deserts, mountains and frozen wilderness hold few people. Islands and small European states can be hard to separate. Think about cities you know, and remember that some countries famous for their size or influence have far fewer people than you'd guess.
