How the SpongeBob episode timeline game works

These cards are classic SpongeBob SquarePants episodes, each with a short plot description under the title, and you order them by the date they first aired. The game puts one episode on the timeline first, with its date showing. Read each new card and pick a gap before, after or between the episodes already there. Get it right and the air date appears. Get it wrong and the episode still sinks to its real spot, but one of your three lives goes with it.

Most of the deck comes from the show's early seasons, when episodes premiered in quick bursts, sometimes within days of each other. A handful of later specials and longer episodes stretch the timeline out, and those are easier to spot. Inside the early run, though, the descriptions offer few clues, since Bikini Bottom barely changes. Holiday episodes are the exception: they tend to air near the holiday they celebrate.
