Order these voyages and expeditions by the year each feat happened. You place all 44 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
Each card is a famous voyage or expedition, named for the explorer behind it, with the place it happened printed underneath: an ocean, a coastline, a pole or a mountain. You sort them by the year the feat on the card took place. The game puts one card on the line with its year showing. Slot every new card into the gap where you think it belongs. Place it well and the year appears; misplace it and the card still slides into its true position, but you lose one of your three lives.
The deck sails from Viking longships and Silk Road caravans through the age of sail to polar sledges, deep-sea submersibles and round-the-world balloons. The great European voyages crowd together, so knowing who sailed for whom and who followed whose route really helps. Read the wording closely, because setting out and arriving can be years apart. The race to the poles and the push to the highest and deepest places on Earth make for some close calls.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
Here are 28 of the 44 cards you might be dealt, with 16 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
