How to play the Famous Speeches timeline game

Every card is a celebrated speech, shown by its title or its most quoted line, with the speaker printed below. Your job is to order them by the year each was given. One speech is already on the timeline with its year in view. For each new card, pick the gap where you think it fits. A good call reveals the year; a bad one still puts the card in its rightful spot, but it costs you one of three lives.

Kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers, activists and even a ballplayer all take the stage here, from church councils and battlefields to stadiums and the floor of the United Nations. Wartime addresses come thick and fast, and a few famous voices appear more than once, so their careers become a handy ruler. Think about what was going on in the world when the words were spoken. A line you have heard quoted all your life may be much older than you expect.

Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
