How the Roman emperors timeline game works
Roman emperors fill this deck, each with a note on what they were known for printed below the name. You're ordering them by the year each came to power. One emperor begins on the timeline with his year showing. For each new card, pick a gap before, between or after the emperors already down. A correct slot shows the year; get it wrong and he still moves to his true spot, taking one of your three lives.
The deck spans the empire's long run, through dynasties, civil wars and the slow decline in the west. In one chaotic stretch emperors rose and fell so quickly that several cards sit almost on top of each other. The notes mention dynasties, wars and building projects, so if you know the ruling families you can group cards. Short reigns are the hardest to place.
