Order by the year each Google product or service launched. You place all 33 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
Each card is a Google product or service, from search tools to phones, gadgets and AI, with a short label saying what it is. You order them by the year each one launched. One product starts on the line, year showing. Then pick a gap for each new card in turn: if it fits, the year appears, and if it doesn't, the card is moved to where it belongs and one of your three lives goes.
The deck starts with the search engine and follows the company out into email, maps, mobile, hardware and cloud services. The middle stretch is packed, back when new services seemed to arrive every few months, many of them in long public betas. Shut-down projects sit among the survivors, and they are easy to misplace if you never used them. The everyday tools are oddly hard too, because they feel like they have always been there.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
Here are 28 of the 33 cards you might be dealt, with 5 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
