Order by the year each song was released. You place all 55 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
Every card is a country song, from honky-tonk heartbreak and outlaw anthems to arena-sized sing-alongs and modern hits. The title is printed with the performing artist underneath, and you arrange the cards by the year each song was released. One card goes on the line first with its year visible. Each new card belongs in a gap. If you place it right, its year appears; if not, it still settles into its true spot, but you lose one of your three lives.
The deck crosses many decades of Nashville and beyond, so the sound of the record tells you a lot: steel guitar and simple production in the early cards, big drums and pop polish later on. Several legends appear more than once. Covers can be tricky, because a song may be far older than the version on the card, and the card counts the version you hear.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
Here are 28 of the 55 cards you might be dealt, with 27 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
