Order by the year each dance took off. You place all 50 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
The cards are dances that swept dance floors, wedding receptions and phone screens, each with the song or person who made it famous printed underneath. You order them by the year the dance really took off, which isn't always the year its song came out. One dance starts on the line with its year showing. Drop each new card into a gap. A good call shows you the year, while a bad one still sends the dance to its true position and takes one of your three lives.
Ballroom fads and swing-era steps sit at one end, TikTok routines at the other, and in between you'll find plenty of songs that come with their own instructions. Watch out for slow burners, since some dances hung around for years before everybody suddenly knew them. Wedding staples are especially slippery because they feel eternal. The sixties and the internet years are both crowded, so think about who was doing the dance and how you first saw it: a TV show, a music video or a feed.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
Here are 28 of the 50 cards you might be dealt, with 22 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
