Order by the year each music video came out. You place all 50 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
Each card is a song whose video became a moment of its own: zombie dances, pencil-sketch romances, treadmill routines and one very famous horse dance. The title is printed with the artist underneath, and you sort the cards by the year each video came out. One card sits on the line to begin with, its year showing. Drop each new card into a gap. Get it right and the year appears; get it wrong and the card still moves to its real place, but you give up one of your three lives.
The deck runs from the first wave of promo clips through the cable music channel years to videos that broke the internet. Pop stars with long careers show up more than once, so working out which era of their look a clip belongs to can help. Watch for videos that arrived later than the song first charted, and for clips that feel old because everyone copied them afterwards.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
Here are 28 of the 50 cards you might be dealt, with 22 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
