Order by the year each LEGO theme launched. You place all 38 cards on one timeline, one at a time. You start with three lives, and ten right in a row wins a lost one back.
Each card is a LEGO theme, one of the product lines that sets are grouped under, with a short description of what it's about printed below. You order them by the year each theme launched. One theme starts on the timeline with its year in view. After that, you decide where each new card fits among the themes already down. Choose right and the launch year shows; choose wrong and the theme moves to its true place while you lose one of three lives.
The deck covers the classic in-house play themes, licensed tie-ins with films and games, robotics and technical lines, and collector ranges aimed at adults. Licensed sets crowd the more recent part of the line, but they began earlier than many people think. Themes that ran for a long time or came back in new forms are tricky, since you might remember a later wave rather than the launch. Short-lived experiments are the hardest of all to pin down.
Want a longer game? On the deck tree you can tick this deck alongside any other one measured in release years and dates, and they shuffle into a single timeline together.
Here are 28 of the 38 cards you might be dealt, with 10 more in the deck. Their values stay hidden until you place them.
